"And this offseason hasn't really been an offseason. And through work ethic, I was able to, as I said, play and compete in three major championships this year. He was able to use a golf cart in both events. The client comes with a password generator that allows you to generate secure new passwords. Bitwarden has apps for Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, and Linux and offers browser extensions for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Opera, Safari and others.Īlso, since it is an open-source platform, Bitwarden’s code is available for anyone to inspect, penetration test and fix. The free plan should be enough for most individual users and allows you to share an unlimited number of passwords that can be synced across multiple devices for free. While the personal plan of the service is free, it also offers premium paid plans for both individuals and organisations with extra features such as file sharing. The service is available in various forms including as a web interface, desktop application, browser extension and a command-line interface. Bitwardenīitwarden is a free and open-source password manager that allows the storage of passwords as well as other sensitive information in an encrypted vault. If you chose not to save your password on a site, it will be listed under “declined sites and apps” in the password manager settings and you will have to delete that entry if you want to save passwords on that site again. With the service, you can access your passwords across all browsers by signing in with your Google account. If you clicked yes, you have stored them on the Google Password manager. If you have stored passwords that you enter on the Google Chrome browser, you may have noticed a dialog box that pops up asking you whether you want to store the password Just like its Apple counterpart, Google Password Manager can be used to store and manage passwords across devices using Android phones or the Google Chrome browser.īut unlike every other service on the list, there is a chance that you may have already used Google’s Password Manager without even knowing about it. If you have an Android phone on the other hand, Google Password Manager may be the right choice. You can always delete them or update these easily guessed passwords as well. Apple’s Keychain will also tell you about which passwords can be easily compromised on Macs and iOS devices. One advantage here is that passwords you create on MacOS are then accessible on the iPhone as well. You can turn on the iCloud keychain on iOS by going to Settings>tapping on your Apple ID> iCloud and then making sure iCloud Keychain is on. Apple Watches need to be updated to watchOS 8. On Mac devices, you need to update them to macOS Monterey 12. For iPhone, iPad and now discontinued iPod Touch, that would be at least iOS 15. While this feature is free if you are an Apple user, do remember that you can only use it if your devices meet some system requirements. Once users set up Keychain using their Apple ID, they can keep their passwords and other secure information updated across devices. If you primarily use Apple devices to browse the internet, you may not have to look any further than the iCloud Keychain feature developed by the iPhone-maker itself. That aside, we have put together a list of a few good password managers that you should consider using. So it is important to make the master password as secure as possible and guard it well. While password managers do make it easier for users to create and store multiple secure passwords, they also offer a single point of failure for malicious actors to capitalise on: someone with access to your master password can access all your accounts. These password managers themselves will recommend that you make this master password as secure and strong as possible. This vault is usually protected by a ‘master password’ that is used to encrypt all the other passwords to various different services. Typically, password managers save your password in an encrypted ‘vault’ so that you can retrieve it across multiple devices and browsers. Frankly, managing so many password can be overwhelming, and this is where password managers come in. Add to that, cybersecurity experts recommend that you use a separate, complex and unique password for each account you access. Given that these warm gestures can enhance our own mood and brighten the day of another person, why not choose kindness when we can?Īre you a scientist who specializes in neuroscience, cognitive science or psychology? And have you read a recent peer-reviewed paper that you would like to write about for Mind Matters? Please send suggestions to Scientific American ’s Mind Matters editor Daisy Yuhas at is an opinion and analysis article, and the views expressed by the author or authors are not necessarily those of Scientific American. These findings suggest that what might seem small when we are deciding whether or not to do something nice for someone else could matter a great deal to the person we do it for. The person who performed the initial act did not recognize that their generosity would spill over in these downstream interactions. People who had just been on the receiving end of a kind act gave substantially more to an anonymous person than those who had not. In this game, participants allocated money between themselves and a person whom they would never meet. In another experiment, we had people play an economic game that allowed us to examine what are sometimes called “pay it forward” effects. If people undervalue this effect, they might not bother to carry out these warm, prosocial behaviors.Īnd kindness can be contagious. People know that cupcakes can make folks feel good, to be sure, but it turns out that cupcakes given in kindness can make them feel surprisingly good. Missing the importance of warmth may stand in the way of being kinder in daily life. Recipients of these unexpected actions tend to focus more on warmth than performers do. But when people received cupcakes through a random act of kindness, the cupcake givers underestimated how positive their recipients would feel. When we asked one set of participants to estimate how much someone would like getting a cupcake simply for participating in a study, for example, their predictions were well calibrated with recipients' reactions. Our research also revealed one reason that people may underestimate their action's impact. Although the people giving out the hot chocolate saw the act as relatively inconsequential, it really mattered to the recipients. Again, the experience was more positive than the givers anticipated for the recipients, who were people who just happened to be nearby. In one experiment, participants at an ice-skating rink in a public park gave away hot chocolate on a cold winter's day. But we found that participants underestimated their positive impact on strangers as well. We initially studied acts of kindness done for familiar people, such as friends, classmates or family. The recipients also reliably rated these acts as “bigger” than the people performing them did. For another, it was clear that performers undervalued their impact: recipients felt significantly better than the kind actors expected. For one, both performers and recipients of the acts of kindness were in more positive moods than normal after these exchanges. In all cases, we compared the performer's expectations of the recipient's mood with the recipient's actual experience.Īcross our investigations, several robust patterns emerged. In some cases, we also inquired about the actual or perceived cost in time, money or effort. We wanted to understand how valuable people perceived these acts to be, so both the performer and recipient had to rate how “big” the act seemed. We asked the person who had acted with kindness to report their own experience and predict their recipient's response. Across these experiments, we asked both the person performing a kind act and the one receiving it to fill out questionnaires. For instance, in one experiment, people wrote notes to friends and family “just because.” In another, they gave cupcakes away. Those who perform such actions expect nothing in return.įrom one situation to the next, the specific acts of kindness varied. In studies published online in the Journal of Experimental Psychology: General, Nicholas Epley, a behavioral scientist at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and I examined a possible explanation: people who perform random acts of kindness underestimate how much recipients value their behavior.Īcross multiple experiments involving approximately 1,000 participants, people performed a random act of kindness-that is, an action done with the primary intention of making someone else (who isn't expecting the gesture) feel good. Everyday life affords many opportunities for such actions, yet people do not always take advantage of them. Acts as simple as buying a cup of coffee for someone can boost a person's mood, for example. Scientists who study happiness know that being kind to others can improve well-being. It's not the most striking board in terms of design, but we've come to appreciate ASUS' more industrial look of its TUF products. There isn't a massive shroud covering most of the PCB and with everything being black, it's a stealthy-looking motherboard. The standard ATX form factor allowed Asus to space everything out for a cleaner aesthetic. Even though we're looking at a lower-tier chipset and no PCIe 5.0 slots for GPUs and other expansion cards, Asus made sure to spend the necessary budget on some of the essentials. Four DIMM slots support a maximum of 128GB of DDR5 RAM, which is capable of hitting speeds up to 6400 MT/s. Plenty of USB ports can be found on the rear, as well as the 2.5Gb networking, which is great for when upgrading your LAN further down the line. That being said, it's good to see the support for some of the fastest RAM kits available on the market.įor storage, you'll be able to utilize the array of SATA ports and two PCIe M.2 slots (one being PCIe 5.0, the other 4.0). Your mileage is bound to vary regarding speeds since not all memory modules have the same speeds. You also get up to four DRAM slots capable of running up to 128GB of DDR4 RAM with up to DDR5-6666+ speeds. These headers are usually available in plenty of motherboards now, so it's nothing unusual. It goes without saying that you also get a ton of fan/pump, USB, and RGB headers on this motherboard. The Gigabyte X670 AORUS Elite AX motherboard has two 8-pin connectors to feed power to the CPU. It also looks great and should fit in with most PC build themes. You won't have any trouble hooking up all your gaming accessories to a system built with this motherboard. The rear I/O has numerous connection points, including 2.5GbE networking, six USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, two USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 ports, one USB-C 3.2 Gen 2x2 port, and four USB-A 2.0 ports. Additionally, this motherboard sports a USB-C 3.2 Gen 2x2 port for the front panel. As you'd expect from a premium motherboard, the M.2 slots are also covered with heatsinks/shroud, making it a great overall environment for cooling. In the top left corner of the node editor, switch from object to world. Suddenly EEVEE is taking forever to initialize the render as well as to close it and open the next frame. To set up the sky texture in Blenders node editor, follow these steps: Go to the shading workspace in the Blender interface header. I just changed some animations and scaled some objects but did not edit rendering settings. It rendered in EEVEE fine with 1.1s per frame. It's easy to handle, you don't need to bake and it will reflect in real-time so you can animate the objects of the scene. By default, Eevee will reflect the HDRI and the lights but it won't reflect the objects of your scene.
